Pak64 Add-ons and Graphics / Re: Using SketchUp for creating models?
Good day,

Sorry for the late reply. With regards to aligning the camera in sketch-up in order to get the correct views for an object, go to the menu "Camera" then click "Parallel Projection". With that, you can use the isometric view of the object for rendering purposes.  ;)

Pak128 / Re: google Sketchup
I'm a frequent user of Google Sketchup and I've used it to create p****enger planes of different liveries (for pak64) for my savegame "The World". See "The World in pak64 (updated)" thread. Anyways, I was also the one who created in sketchup those 3D planes which I used.

I'd just note though that you can export 2D graphics from sketchup and produce a .png image file. Just look up under FILE tab, then Export options. That would yield better results that the  "print screen" option, as you have said here.

Pak128 / 102.0 with pak128 won't open
I've just downloaded Simutrans version 102.0 and copied my pak128 folder from my previous version (which is 99.17). However, an error message appears upon loading and won't let me open the game. I've got addons for pak128 and that's why I copied them, hoping to open my saved games.

Anyone could help?

Pak64 / The World in Pak64 (updated)
I'm not sure whether to reply in my older thread so I just started this one.

My "The World" layout is already in the year 2009 and has much more planes than my previous one. For those who haven't read my first related thread about this, here's the info. I've somewhat recreated the global airline industry with a world map, with planes flying from different real-world cities located around the map.

The planes that I used in my updated map are the ones which I have rendered from my sketchup models (see thread), though they are a bit smaller than the default planes and have a somewhat blurry graphics. (However, I think they're still indentifyable).

I'll be posting the link for the download for those who might want to have a look at it.

Pak64 Add-ons and Graphics / Re: Using SketchUp for creating models?
I've already done several airlines in different aircraft types, although as I have said, their graphics is pretty much blurred. (I was only concerned into making my airlines identifiable at my "The World" layout, and I think the tails of the aircraft pretty much met up to that criteria). Also, I've only added nightlights to the wingtips as placing some for p****enger windows made it messy to look at.

However, I'll upload some here and comments/suggestions would be appreciated.

P.S: how can I upload .pak files here?

Uhm, could you explain a little bit more about that? Sorry I didn't get it much.

Also, it has problems with the rotational views. The plane doesn't seem to face into the right direction at certain times. It is also sometimes misaligned with the taxiway. (I'll post screenshots of this)

Ok.

Hmm..doing away with the graphics problem, I've already tried creating a png file of the rotational views of another test plane (this time CX B777-300). I've also created a dat file for it and produced a pak file of the vehicle. However, this is the resulting screenshots of the the plane in use in the game.

Ok I've seen it. Just a thought though. Would I already need to render the image from sketchup in 64 pixels, or do I use the rendered image and edit it in, let's say MS Paint, in order to modify it into 64 pixels?

EDIT: Also, should the model already have the prescribed background color for simutrans before I render it?

Randomness Lounge / Re: Copyright Re: Using SketchUp for creating models?
I think the issue of "copyrighted" models by the creators is some sort of preventing other sketchup users from re-uploading their works without stating who its original creators are. Me as a creator on sketchup, I don't mind much over copyrights there; I just basically give a note on those persons who upload their creations which include my own models, without giving out credits. (Basically, most modelers contact me if they'd like to use my creations as inclusions in there models).

With regards to Zeno's link, that model was designed by my brother and he tends to be tough over those who re-upload his works.

SketchUp has rotational capabilities too. Actually, I've just taken rotational shots of a Lufthansa 747-400 and I'll post it shortly.

Regarding the ADC Competition, most of the plane liveries there are actually designed by me (Nix15) and my brother. We just gave credits to William T, from whom we got the default plane bodies.

Pak64 Add-ons and Graphics / Using SketchUp for creating models?
I was just wondering if models made from Google SketchUp (Freeware 3d program) can be used to make vehicles and other objects. It's just that I was already able to make various 3D airplanes in different liveries using the program for the past 2 years or so and this thought crossed my mind just recently.

Here's a sample of one of those:

Simutrans Help Center / Re: makeobj problem

Thanks guys  :D
Well I've managed to figure out using the console to change directories and I've managed to create some pak files. With regards the PakHelper, I'll give it a try. Seems much more easy to use that one.

Simutrans Help Center / Re: makeobj problem
ok...uhm what do you mean by changing the directory to the makeobj directory? Btw I've extracted the makeobj from the rar file onto my desktop.
