As far I can remember, I did not produce any of those maps. I will look trhought my archieves and see if I can find out who did.
Cheers Joker
Add: Well after searching through what I have here...I dont have any of those at all. On the other hand lol I have found some other maps I had totally forgot I was working on ages ago. like a map of New York and one of Austria with surrounding area. Maybe I should finsh them
It depends. To me it seems that full 3D usually means more work for the artists. Also it locks out all people who paint, instead of modeling items.
Not always the case. There are game out there that painters excel at. Just as examples Rfactor Or the 18 Wheels of Steel Series. Both allow incredible freedoms when it comes to painting or creating Skins as most are referred as. I am no good at the 3D modelling side, But I have created many skins for both of those examples with realitive ease. Granted it would first be upto the Modellers to prove templates for such things.
On the other hand this would mean the Modellers would be the on the hook for new content. Paint takes minimal effort and can be produced much quicker then great models.
I would think some research into London's transport networks would be the best place to start. Underground system maps, above ground rail lines, bus routes, motorways, etc.
I also think I created a London map way back for Timothy. I think that is a good start as well.
Yep I think you right. now that you meantioned I see the top of the building is a little off. Which now makes perfect sense why the windows didnt match or line up correctly. This means a lot of work to correct. Hmmm... This can be done Just gonna to take sometime
Good day everyone! Been a while since I did anything around here so here is a new building. The Sears Tower. No dat at the moment as I can not remember how to If you like the building though, feel free to create your own dat for it and enjoy. Oh and yes it lights up too
Cheers Joker
Original building created by Google using Sketch up. Pixel modified and made to fit Simutrans
Hey Gbm! It's wonderful that you have found Simutrans!! It's great! But I feel it a little unfair to compare it to a commercial game that has tons of cash thrown at its developement. Everything in Simutrans was done for free basically excepted for some very dedicated people who have spent countless hours on getting Simutrans to the place it is today . The Free mode is basically what you are asking for already, if your reason is truly of being lazy the issue. With free mode you can build what ever you want with out the cash factor. Plus you did meantion that you understand that the balance is still under developement for the game. Simutrans at its core is a Simulation. Not a game as some would call it. It is truly meant to simulate the trials and difficulties that a company would have moving and delivering products and services to the m****es, and at the same time as making money doing it. not an easy feat in real life or in Simutrans.
So basically if you look at Simutrans as Simulation as it was intended the Freemode is the closest you will get to and "easy" mode of play. In real life you don't get to pick the difficulty level. There is a learning curve. It's not easy but it can be done!!!
Sorry To bother you all Just looking around and found this!! Awsome!! But I when I went to download at the home page it doesn't seen to be there. Did I miss some thing? If so where do I find this incredible beta!!!
Hey everyone! been a long time For the first time in along time I have felt the need to play or Create something for Simutrans. Much to my surprise and to my utter delight I found some incredible things have happened! Rivers!!! Factory placements, and tons of new things! Wow!! just awesome!! Thanks everyone!!!
Well Im off to get a copy of the SRM so I can relearn how to play this wonderous game!!!
Depends on how you look at it I guess. It could be that the boiler or what have you, is in the middle of the structure and the chimney is just piped out that way. But it just in how you see it
Wow! its good to see you again Bud!!!! Glad to hear things are a bit better now. And yes please take it eay around here. We don't wanna lose you again!
Well I for one, am refraining from further comments. Expect this last one. What makes any one project more important then another. If you are going to donate to one project another will get left out. Personally I feel thats load of bull. Considering the fact that everyone here gives their time freely. If any money is to change hands, it should be to Hellmade for the cost of keeping the forum alive. Other then that there should be nothing to it.
I'm sorry to say that if money goes to anything else I think I would have to reevaluate my time spent here. Sorry that is how discusted I am at this point with this conversation and the whole donation dilemma
No offence to everyone else, but Colin has a very valid point. There were a few that offered to help in financing server costs. But one must remember that ultimately it was Isaac that needed to make that final call when it came down to it. We were then given another means to keep things going. Hellmade offered and we all agreed that that was the way to go.
To even start talking money now is a slap in the face to those who offered it earlier and were told " No thank you". Not to mention that IMHO, if financial aid is required to run the server that is one thing, and something that I would expect Hellmade would be the one to put forth that request. Consider the fact now its Hellmade's server.
I have not been paid for the time and effort for what I have contributed to Simutrans and would not expect to be. So no I would not pay for Simutrans in that manner. Again Server I would, but that's it.
That being said, if someone wanted to donate to the cost of the server there are many ways to it can be managed. The simplest way would be to have a monthly tally of Server monthly cost and how much has been "donated" up to date. I have seen it on many other Forums I am a member of. It works well in my opinion. But at this point what we think should be done has no baring. the Future of this forum lies in the hands of Hellmade at this present time. Or until some else steps up and has a better solution. BUT...Until then money should not be a topic until it is request by the one who holds the key to the Forum.
Oh and another thing... How fair would it be to donate to one part of the Community and not another, less we forget our German counter parts and their forum. What... they not part of this as well. Or even the Japanese...heck everyone who contributes from where ever they might be. Seems to me that the money unless for the sole purpose of maintaining this forum....is a bad idea.
Again this just my opinion and view of it. Take it as you will. No offence is meant.
Unfortunalty Raven has left us for now. Real Life called him away. He is missed here :'( But Im sure you are real quiet you can hear him tinkering away down in his workshop!
Do you mean the collaborative games played amoungest paitrons of the forum? If so, they from what I gather have been discontinued here on the new forum for the time being. Due to the change over to Hellmade's server attachments have been limited in size. Thus making Collaborative games difficult to manage. Im not sure if this is a permanant thing, but until someone comes up with a better solution I think they will be put on the shelf for a awhile.
If that wasn't what you meant then I miss read the post. Sorry
I think that, (in my honest opinion) would be to much mirco-management in the end. Having to constantly update and change over your fleet over the years as well as the debt that you would end up with would hurt the game more then improve it. Sure if the game had your idea implamented it might be managable, but in the end I think the fun of dealing with the Movement ( or transportation ) of goods and services would be lost to the agony of fleet management. I could be wrong though
