Yeah, I figured it thinking about reason to put waypoints somewhere near the skipped stations. But this signal is valid only to trains using it and will not actually stop them in danger, huh? ;]

Yup, they work. I usually place presignals there, so leaving trains won't block the switching area. On the other hand train may go through a red signal if it won't collide with another train "physically", or at least that's what I have seen somewhere and observed in the game. So simple stations like shown above won't be hit by such a problem, BUT it will occur if some side-track (like from factory) is connected through that area.

So stations cut tracks into blocks just like signals? Because I don't see any signals to make each platform safe.

Where I may find some manual describing actual solutions used in Simutrans? :D

Ok, so now I have a problem and most likely it has to do with my misudenrstanding of platform choose signals. Pakfile is pak128.

I have a simple system of one-way tracks, but stations have to be more flexible. So let me give you some scheme:

.----x--<s-\/<p>[][][][][][]<p>\/<p-<c-x--    (don't mind the dot)
--x-c>-p>-/\<p>[][][][][][]<p>/\-s>--x----

x - end of platform choose, c - platform choose signal, p - presignal, s - normal signal, \/ and /\ for connections between tracks, [][ - station itself, <> for ways allowed by signals. Between the stations I use the simple one-way signals for 250 each (black ones) instead of normal and this may be the issue.

Problem is when one train (let's say it's local) leaves and is between stations, the second one (express skipping that station) going in the same direction will stop on the platform choose and won't go until the previous is on the next station. More specific - the express can p**** the platform choose when the local p**** platform choose on the next station. I use end-of-choose signs on all tracks connected to the station. What's wrong?

Thanks for the simutrans' file hosts, I don't like external image hosting much. ;]

So, I messed with "normalized" settings a little like you mentioned and added rivers one by one. This seems to increase generation time considerably. With no rivers generator works pretty fast and the other settings do not have that much impact - just as with the pak64. With one river (lenght from 20 to 100) it goes much slowe, with two even worse, with seven rivers it the process took about 10 minutes. I won't test how long it take to generate 16 of them.

So rivers don't really freeze the game, they just have got really heavy impact on the generation time.

Ok, rivers appear to mess something up, all works fine without them. So will this place be alright or should I (or someone else) post it in a proper topic?

And sorry for the images, forum won't allow them bigger than 200kb in summary and I don't know which format has better compression.

Ok, here are the screens - first with options, second with the outcome (main window is freezed then). The file is ok, downloaded it few times already and never had a broken connection. I think this may be some issue between the newest Simutrans and pak file from May. To say the truth it is not my first problem with pak128, but it was always just some options/vehicles or other small things missing and now all I can do is play the "starting" map (this works really fine). ;]

Please tell me if somehow you can't see the images.

Simutrans release is 102.2, pak128 compatible with 102 and that's all I know. And wow, that was quite a fast response. Sorry for not saying hello yet. :D

I tried maps like 1024x1024 and 128x128 as well, number of cities, industries and attractions varying from 2 to 50. On pak64 all works really smooth (which is also incredible when I look back to versions about 89 or older :]).

I got supposedly the same error - program freeze near the end of generating map. It stops while generating last city with text like "City 37: number of iterations = 14" if I set 37 cities. I've got last Simutrans and pak128. Any ideas? :]
