I am not sure if this is the right forum to ask. I followed the instructions to intall and as far as I can see I followed them correctly. Unfortunately when I double click simutrans.exe a window will show saying simutrans.exe has stopped working, windows is checking for a solution to the problem and they asked to close the program.
Can anybody help me with this issue.
I am using windows vista home premium.
I tried both the executable - version 102.0 windows native and window with sdl and both pak64 and pak128.
Thanks a lot.
Look for settings.xml in the \My Documents\Simutrans folder, and delete it (after backing it up first). Sometimes, a corrupted or incompatible settings.xml file can cause a crash on starting. This is not necessarily what is causing your problem, but it is worth a try.
(Incidentally, it would probably have been better to have started a new thread, as this is a separate problem. And welcome to the forums!)
Split. :)
my apology for posting my question in the wrong thread.
Thanks james for your reply but I couldn't find "settings.xml" in the simutrans folder.
I used to play this game few years back on an XP Operating System.
I can confirm this behaviour, happens from time to time since I started using Vista. Unable to reproduce it.
Neither could I!
Vista would be the bug, then...
It's in the home user "Own Files" directory.
Like: "C:\Users\Username\Simutrans\"
@snartunis: can you provide a screenshot of the situation? sometimes simutrans gives an indication where the error occurs.
could you reproduce the error with the newest nightly?
