I have experienced the following. The experimental simutrans does not "see" the links from public stations to private ones. When looking under Details, the connection does not appear under direct connection list.
It works from private to public and from public to public, but not from public to private.
The standard simutrans correctly "sees" the links from public to private (by private line of course, since there are no public ones). Experimental doesn't.
So in short:
private -> private : OK
public -> public : OK
public -> private : NOT WORKING

When I made whole route public, the goods still did not appear, as if routing through public was somehow buggy. All (or should I say both) the links along the way were served by the same company (ship + truck). Would the savegame help ? Or is it something you can easily recreate yourself ?
I think that I've tracked this one down - will be fixed in the next version. Thank you very much for your bug report!
If 3.9 is the "next" you are referring to, then I'm afraid it's not fixed at all.
Here is the savegame where I made two stations public just to test if it's fixed.

The relevant stations are:
Kopenhaga Refinery (382,448,-7) - public station, origin of the Gas
Slupsk Port (286,242) - public transfer dock, here Gas is supposed to be re-loaded to trucks
Poznan Gas station (233,246) - private target station for Gas
The route worked well when all the stations were private (player 5, Meyer Moving Co.), but when I made two first public the route dies. The station Slupsk Port doesn't see connection to Poznan Gas station, just like in 3.8.
The save is after making stations public, but the Gas is still on tankers and going to Slupsk Port, where it will disappear (since it supposedly has no route).
Ahh, thank you for that! I'd fixed one part of the code, but forgotten to fix a connected part. It should be fully fixed in 3.10 :-)
