Title: Cargo payment (exploit or bug?)
Post by: Dimbit on August 28, 2009, 07:55:15 am
I'm new to this (recent convert from OTTD - couldn't be bothered with the onerous upgrade to monorail anymore), so sorry if it's covered somewhere else but I've found that in simutrans you can make a ton of money by taking cargo further than you need to. Do you get paid by distance travelled or by distance from origin to destination? It seems like the former because when I built airports in 2 nearby towns with a direct route the planes made hardly anything, but when I sent all traffic via another airport in the middle of nowhere at the far corner of the map I was suddenly rich!

Yes, you have touched upon an ongoing discussion in Simutrans. The way you are paid is configurable. See this topic http://forum.simutrans.com/index.php?topic=1518.0 (http://forum.simutrans.com/index.php?topic=1518.0).

In this topic there is a reference to a nightly build, but the change is incorparated in version 0.102.

That'll be it. Thanks.
