Title: Problem with map loading
Post by: IchhasseHartzIV on September 27, 2009, 05:33:47 pm
Hello everyone,
since I'm new to this Forum, I don't know whether this is the right section to post this topic. Nevertheless I would like to state my problem: I am using the simutrans 102.0 version with pak64 and everytime i want to create a map with a lot of factories, the game freezes and i have to close it via the Task Manager. My question is now: Am i simply trying to create too many factories on a maybe not big enough map? One example is: Map size: 320x320 - factories: 70 and a complete flat map without any mountains.

I would appreciate help very much as I am not sure whats causing the problem.
With best Regards

I think that's excesive, taking into account that exist some constraints related with distances between the factories. Therefore, you're right. Those are too many factories for such a small map.

70 is actually quite a lot (personally I'd say: way too much) for a 320x320 map. Remember these are not just single industries but complete production chains(!). Try with 15 and look what gets created - and if you're not satisfied, slowly rise the number (but remember: new industries will grow during play as well and you can also manually place them, so I wouldn't start with too many...)

Ah, Thank you very much, Dirk. Chains aren't single production units, right. I simply mixed it up and wondered why it didn't work. Again, Thank you very much for helping me out.

I think many of factory chains of pak64 need several climates.
Only few kind of factory chains are possible with such a single climate map.
