Good job Igor!
I have a few prompts:
* images in jpeg-format with high compression looks poor. You can use PNG - is better for web-based graphic.
* background color (rgb 102, 102, 204; hex 6666CC) in H4-title (Simutrans is a freeware...) looks on my display very, very crazy :o
(http://img39.imageshack.us/img39/166/screenxe.th.jpg) (http://img39.imageshack.us/i/screenxe.jpg/)
EDIT: i try to use color from link:
In top is original color (#6666CC) and in bottom is "new" (#30406E). I think, new color provides better contrast...
This looks imho ugly too, I think. Why needed to make it like this?
(And those strange MAC-like icons on the download page case more confusion to me than directing me to anything. Also a break under the complete download would be great ...)
I'll be updating the Simutrans.com portal soon. Maybe tomorrow or Monday, so post what you think about the site as fast as you can.
I'd like to ask a little thing: Are you seeing this image (http://www.simutrans.com/newsite/images/bckg_mainleft.jpg) at the front page http://www.simutrans.com/newsite ?
That's just a placeholder. I think of substituting it by an image with some locos, convoys and trucks (pak128 or 192) over a transparent background or something like
this (http://128.simutrans.com/images/divback.png) as shown at http://128.simutrans.com/.
What is ugly for you?
What breaks it for me is:
1) Strange colour choice (violet) Sorry, you are changing that!
2) The part saying "download" overlaps the bar in a rather blocky way... no idea how to explain better, it feels like banana boxes stacked together carelessly:
Probably related to having a different height overlapping above and under.
3) The bar itself is too strong a divider; there is "background", "text block" and "header", all of them with adding more horizontal lines, and this adds even more of these. It's just a theory but it begins to look too much like an advertisement.
the footer flag link for german
simutrans-germany.com is not a german portal site, is a server home page
this page not included external links
suggestion
tikiwiki german index page (http://simutrans-germany.com/wiki/wiki/tiki-index.php?page_ref_id=1)
or
german forum (http://www.simutrans-forum.de/forum/index.php)
or
a user create a new portal page on simutrans-germany.de
Some minor edits on Simutrans.com:
- Blog and SVNLogs links added;
- Abandoned/death sites removed;

 http://www.simutrans.com/index.html
late but maybe it still helps: Yes image is there. Using Mozilla SeaMoneky as browser.
Good. Dark purple banner, as proposed by Tomas, looks better (imho).
I found a few references to http://www.simugraph.com
This domain will seize to exist some time next spring. I moved most of my web stuff to http://www.funkelwerk.de
Maybe you can update the links?
Refresh the page twice (Ctrl+F5) or clean the cache.
And I'm going to empty http://www.simutrans.com/newsite.
Download page: There is a 102-2 download for intel and power mac on sourceforge but not on siad page.
Done. Please, check the page.
Download page updated.
Please, check out: http://www.simutrans.com/download.htm
Thanks!
update the pak192.comic link, please
see http://forum.simutrans.com/index.php?topic=3909.0
Could we get the title bar from the blog also for the www.simutrans.com? Imho it looks much better and it should just require some CSS changes. And it would not hurt if www.simutrans.com is tested with Chrome, I find this jumping menubar due to bold change by mouseover quite annoying, but I would like to hear more comments on it.
I did a minor edit on Simutrans site:
- Download: few tweaks;
- Community: new Chat channel link (Direct via browser);
- Links: new fan sites and some links edited.
Can you update the link to pak128.Britain download please? New link:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/simutrans/files/pak128.britain/pak128.britain%20for%20102-0/pak128Britain_1-0-7_0-102.zip/download
done! :)
cheers.
Another simutrans site update is near. So, I need to know few things:
1) Are there Simutrans complete versions for 102.2.2 available?
2) v102.2.2 is stable?
3) BeOs will no longer be supported by Simutrans DevTeam?
2) It has mostly bugs correction, so yes.
3) Haiku should be full compatible with BeOs,so the programm should run.
Well Haiku has a different networking library than BeOS. But since no modern computer can run BeOS (no dual CPU support, no support of meodrn networking chips, ... ) but can run Haiku, I compiled now under Haiku.
I think 102.2.2 is one of the most stable released ever ... but I though the rule was to call something stable after one week testing.
And the complete version should be on sourceforge.
Simutrans.com just updated.
- download page: new stable.
- about page: menu bar.
- links page: menu bar and more links.
- general: minor fixes.
Simutrans.com updated:
- help page (http://www.simutrans.com/help.htm): 2 new links of sites with manuals added and several fixes.
Maybe the german link could rather point to "www.simutrans.de"
Hi!
I wanted to do some hacking on the latest simutrans source, and I quite easily found the link to the development SVN account from http://www.simutrans.com/development.htm (http://www.simutrans.com/development.htm). However I was a little stumped when it asked for a p****word.
After trying combinations of "anonymous" and "guest" to no avail, I dug around on this forum and found the details (username: "anon", p****word: "").
My suggestion is that it would be nice if this info was added to the main website :).
EDIT BY Igor: DONE!
yes, this should be mentioned there!
A new update is near. What's new:
- SVN p****word on public, as said here: http://forum.simutrans.com/index.php?topic=5258.0
- German link will be www.simutrans.de
- More links in Simutrans Sites page: http://simutrans.com/links.htm
- New screenshots in PakSet gallery: http://simutrans.com/paksets.htm (many of them will be SMSC winners (http://forum.simutrans.com/index.php?topic=4727.0))
- some fixes.
But, to get it done, I will need:
- to know, does the pakJapan (or Pak64Japan) still exist?
- one screenshot of pak96.comic
You can use this one from A. Brose (
SMSC May Edition Winner)... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Abrose_bigcity.png
under Links
Arquive - is this correct?
for Online-Dat better this link
http://online-dat.simutrans-germany.com/ (http://online-dat.simutrans-germany.com/)
Too bad. This one is already in. I need another. ;D
Done. Thank you.
There is also another source repository now:
http://github.com/aburch/simutrans
This link should be mentioned on the development section.
It is a clone of the svn-repository with another version-control system (git).
I asked for Screenshots at the German forum and they asked if there was a restriction in size or a specific topic the screenshot has to be about.
As it is not the official one and even hosting simutrans-experimental, I would be not too happy with making it official. Maybe lable it as an alternative one? There is also a git version of the "official SVN" at git://tron.homeunix.org/simutrans (http://git://tron.homeunix.org/simutrans).
Simple things:
- 800 x 600px max (If larger, I can cut it down)
- No objects from other paksets (sample of a screenshot that doesn't fit (http://graphics.simutrans.com/displayimage.php?album=126&pos=7))
- No add-ons (well, not mandatory)
****
Please, I would like some help on these things:
-
Development page (http://simutrans.com/newsite/development.htm): I feel this page looks a tad "messy" and needs a cleaning. Maybe it lacks some important info. I'd like make it "pleasant" for people who might get involved with development.
-
Pakset Gallery (http://simutrans.com/newsite/paksets.htm): check if there are missing/wrong info. Missing paksets? Outdated paksets? Let me know.
-
Simutrans Links (http://simutrans.com/newsite/links.htm): check if there are missing sites and/or wrong info. Fan sites, if good and reliable, are welcome.
-
Other pages (http://simutrans.com/newsite): feel free to make suggestions.
Igor, here you are: The Transporter posted a screenshot. Have look at it here (http://www.simutrans-forum.de/forum/thread.php?postid=66658#post66658)
Thank you.
It's already in: http://simutrans.com/newsite/paksets.htm
http://www.simutrans.com/development.htm (http://www.simutrans.com/development.htm)
under 'Writing manuals and tutorials'
I think the link 'Simutrans Wiki' rename to 'Simutrans Wikis Home.
And the link 'Simutrans Germany Wiki' rename to 'Simutrans Tikiwiki'.
The Tikiwiki include English, Swedish, Czech ( since yesterday ) and German.
Done, it's already in testing version of Simutrans.com
I'm right now updating the Simutrans.com site (which can be found here: http://simutrans.com/newsite)
If you want to talk with me about the site update, you can find me at Simutrans Chat (http://forum.simutrans.com/index.php?topic=1369.0 or irc://quakenet/Simutrans).
The Simutrans.com site has been updated!
