Title: No Vehicles
Post by: KartAnimal29 on December 29, 2009, 04:47:01 pm
I just downloaded the game and it seems that I have No Vehicles. They are there in the program files but not in the game.

Thanks Todd

Is there some kind of Beginners Page I should be reading?

Mod note: avoid double-post please. It's not necessary.

It is fun. Don't give up so easily, there are plenty of members who will help you if you give them a chance. As Frank says, "You must build a depot to get vehicles". Isn't this true in real life?

I got the depot built but no one gets on the bus  LOL. I'll keep messing around with it and see how things go.

This is the best tip to learn Simutrans. Sure, I'm not kidding.

Things in Simutrans won't happen or move by themselves. You need to make things happen. When I figured out this, I learned Simutrans by myself.

Plus, there are a plenty of tutorials here: http://forum.simutrans.com/index.php?topic=660.0, might it help.

Now I'm really going crazy. I can't find out how to Schedule a route between the  Supermarket and Food Processioning  Plant. I did a search on "Scheduling" and came up with nothing. The maker of this game really need to re-do the Starters Guide. There is no Basic info in there.

You have to have multiple bus stops, and send the bus on a round trip, it's always good to have two buses and send one round left to right and the other vica versa. Personally i  would rather use Trams, but I do use buses to take workers to and from cities to factories.(It may take a little while for your cities to generate enough p****engers. It depends how big the cities are. You could try an experiment and grow one of your cities using the 'Special Tools' then see if your p****enger level increases.

When you choose a vehicle from a Depot, you must use 'New Line' then select the bus stops then close the 'New Line' window, then click on 'Apply the Line' then 'Start'.

Please do not knock the developers of this game, people who give up their free time to bring this wonderful game to you for nothing, zilch, de-nada.

If you want to see a full working game using Buses, Boats, Trams, Trains, Aeroplanes, then go to Save Games and download my PAK64.241 SVE. Or I could email it to you direct if you like. You will need a good computer as this is a huge game with a 512x1024 map.

Addendum! You also need food in the Food Processing Plant to get a Transport to move food from there to the Supermarket. So you have to set up a complete network. Fish from a Fish Pond/Swarm, Meat from a Cattle/Sheep Farm, Flour from a Grain Farm via a Grain Mill, etc, etc.

Actually, the food add-ons are what I would consider advanced for this game, given how complicated the factory inputs are.
OP should probably delete the food add-on paks until he/she is familiar with the basics of the game and understands how to build a large transport network.

Isaac, Thank you for that, but I feel that I should explain why I made the multiple posts. Given the questions from kartAnimal29 I believed that a long and convoluted explanation to his problems wouldn't help him. I think he would have given up after two lines. (Sorry KartAnimal29 if I'm wrong) So I thought it would be easier for him if it were broken into smaller increments dealing with each subject. I hope I'm wrong, but we'll find out when he next logs in.

You could be right given that he was having trouble getting a bus to work. But, he asked the question so I answered. We may be pleasently surprised.
