Thank you, gauthier.  :)

Well, you'll see while trying the next version of pak96.comic. Don't know when it's coming but i will come soon, hehe.

I have a new city building. There are still no special colors und no winter version; i will include it after work. But you can get an insight, though.  :D

Yes, and your account number and PIN is? ;)

If I may ask, how exactly do you do the dots around solid lines? I mean, how do you decide where should they go? For the "straight" lines it's of course easy, but eg. the small houses have enhanced the woodem beams the same way...

Also - did you sample colours for windows on the left high-rise from real photos? Otr how do you come up with colors in general?

Well... It's simple to decide where to do the dots around solid lines. I avoid "lonely dots" of lines. That means i round hard lines. You can call it antialaiasing, hehe. With this procedure you can draw between (!) the dots. ...I hope, my answer is the answer you want wo read. :/
The colors: The most colors are from existing graphics i've made in the last time for pak96.comic. It's much easier than picking new colors from photos or something like that.
But i study real buildings (the left highrise doesn't exist in real life), though. In the reality there are less colors in the skylines. For games like ST you need much more of them.

Thanks! I did not know what answer is correct, so I'll take any :) In the end, it is astonishingly simple, just as everything...

I think currently there are enough high buildings in pak96.comic.
At the moment i'm working on new station modules, tram tracks, overhead lines and some other stuff. But new skyscrapers and residential highrises will come, be sure.  :D

During math lessons, I draw those buildings.
1st = commercial
2nd = commercial too
3rd = residential
4th = industrial
5th = residential

Nice, hehe.
You know what you have to do, right? Please draw them again - for 96c!  ;D

Once in school i only drawed cars. Cars, cars and cars. And only self-designed.  :D
The following old drawing from me was printed in a car magazine in germany. But no car manufacturer contacted me.  :-\ ;D

My last drawing i've done is from januar 2007 and was made by using adobe fireworks.

Wow man! You beat me at drawing ;D. I don't draw cars often because I tend to make cars like 80s, which for me is easier to draw because it's blocky, unlike newer cars.

Alexander, you are a genius, made of sheer talent. There are no words to express the world's thankfulness for your generosity. Pak96comic is the best thing that happened to Simutrans perhaps since it was actually created by Hajo, and now you are breathing life into it.

Well, 2x2 parks are already planned.
And you want 1x1 parks, too?

Any specific wishes/ideas for me concerning this matter? :)

Not so much 1x1. More 2x1, 2x2 and a big 3x3 ... this sounds good.  ;D

Mayby more "dark" parks with many many dark trees, like the (Schwarzwald).

And some for the tropical zone? What park can placed at desert?

PS. Can you give me the new ground (for desert)?

Title: Re: Graphic Factory A. Brose
Post by: sojo on March 21, 2009, 07:12:37 am
Alex. Brose has not so many new painted. All objects are from older projects.

Of course some pixels are new and the way is new. But the most is only copy and paste.
Title: Re: Graphic Factory A. Brose
Post by: Alex. Brose on March 21, 2009, 01:36:02 pm
My tip for you, gauthier: just zoom into the graphic. You can explore the graphic then and see my tricks.
Sometimes you only need small details. For the park: Some gr****, flowers... I took the trees from the template. As sojo wrote - copy and paste. After all you'll need antialiasing for cleaner results. :)

EDIT: And don't forget the shadows! They are really important.
Title: Re: Graphic Factory A. Brose
Post by: gauthier on March 21, 2009, 10:25:13 pm
I don't know if it's so simple for pak128 ...

How do you make anti-aliasing ?

Title: Re: Graphic Factory A. Brose

you could use gaussian blur, or some other kind of blur in GIMP or Photoshop

Title: Re: Graphic Factory A. Brose
Post by: Alex. Brose on March 23, 2009, 10:39:34 am
You're right, gauthier. *lol*

But it's worth the effort. I think, sometimes the artist has to "play" with the pixels. :)

Nice to see this in the game :) For the pak, I'd suggest to make the tower-stem a bit leaner, the perspective on the photo distorts the real size relation a bit.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fernsehturm_Stuttgart

The base of the tower is definitely leaner than the "station" at the top. Thanks for adding that, Alex :)

*lol*

I have to admit that i wasn't sure, hehe.
Well, you only need three green colors. And three again for the dark side of the building.
Then you draw with the darkest green some "rivers" from the ground above. And now yo've only to "spray" the two other green colors across the darkest green.
It not more then painting a bush, it's even more narrow.

You've all permissions, for a long time.

But i couldn't really imagine how it'll look. With or without comic style?
I'm curious about that, gauthier. :)

May I request a building inspired in Spain? perhaps The Pic****o tower (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torre_Pic****o) or The Agbar tower (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Torre_Agbar_-_Barcelona,_Spain_-_Jan_2007.jpg)..

Of course, vilvoh. :) Both buildings are well known to me.
The Agbar tower is very difficult to draw. I think i'll need to render a template.

Well, we'll see when it's time for spanish (world) architecture, hehe.

A first preview. I've to change some little things and to create the winter version.
What do you think, vilvoh? It's not a 1:1 copy but i think (hope) that everybody can see the Pic****o Tower in this skyscraper.

Thank you very much!

I don't need a 3d template now - i tried to paint it and it looks nice. The building will be a little bit smaller but not less nice (nice? okay, the architecture is strange), hehe. :)

I would make it a little higher, 3 or 4 floors, and you paint it too grey. imho, the original one has more color but from distance, it seems to have a grey color scheme. Have a look at the images.
P.S: You got more images of the tower at this link (http://www.skyscraperpicture.com/torreagbar.htm) (including night photos)

P.S: In spite of that, the shape is perfect, seems rounder enough

From sky you see the window modules (?) and so you can't see much from the nice colors.
You more see the reflections from the sky. :)
So i've modified the design.

My template is based on a bird view photo (bing maps) and it looks like my graphic.
It's not a 1:1 copy and i think it's nice enough for pak96.comic.

And - as a matter of fact - you've permission to modify this building.
Don't be shy.  ;D  :)

Actually IRL is a little more blueish, but it's really fine for pak96.comic. You could have asked me for some first hand photos!

It looks like one. I am sorry, it does. You have to try really really hard to make yourself think of even a cucumber instead. I like it anyway, and I hope it will populate my cities soon, bringing m****ive amounts of joy to Simuthanians (or whatever the perverted tram-riding folk is called).

I've spent expotential amounts of time exposing myself to the divine pleasures of playing pak96, and I must say you cannot possibly get enough. The sheer goodness is overwhelming! That said, being able to complain about everything, I have to tiny teeny gripes. Namely, there are two buildings from the past that started to stand out, and not necessairly in a positive way, among the copious amounts of wonderful in the latest editions of the pak. They are:
* The big pinkish rectangular commercial building labelled "Shop"
* The midsized Town Hall (light brownish with red roof)

I was quietly wondering if the next time around the Brose Werk could upgrade those, so that Sojo could delight us with replacements in the next release?

Just a little quiet wish I will keep to myself, obviously ;)

I guess it's the famous Theological Network, a connectionist (neural-network) expert system with more than 10.000 rules, that acts as a skilled preacher that tries to prove god's existence without using the scientific method. It's used mainly by soft creationists and Intelligent Design supporters. But it's only a guess.. :::)
