Title: [Fixed] Finding, Simutrans Experimental 7.3 DoR1, Canals and routefinding.
Post by: Dutchman on Rails on April 29, 2010, 06:41:30 pm
Hi James,

I'm sorry to have to report a finding.

Reproduces with:
- Simutrans 102.2.2 with Simutrans Experimental 7.3 and Pak128.Britain 1.07
- Simutrans 102.2.2 with Simutrans Experimental 7.3 and Pak128.Britain-Ex 0.6

Does not reproduce with:
- Simutrans 102.2.2 with Pak128.Britain 1.07

Finding:

When building two canals, all ships will not find routes through the canal that was built second.

DoR,

thank you for your report. As with the other issue - can you post a saved game so that I can investigate this?

This one too will take a few days, as I have issues with uploading large files at the location I currently am. I do have a reproduction scenario for you if you do not wish to wait:
1) Use Simutrans Installer 102.2.2 with Pak128.Britain 1.07
2) Install Simutrans Experimental 7.3 binaries and config files over it.
3) Start a new game.
4) Build two canals to the sea.
5) Put one ship on a route that includes the first canal.
6) Put a second ship on a route including the second canal. It will display a message that it can't find a route.

Hi James,

The promised Savegame. You'll notice how lines 1, 2 and 3 all have trouble finding their routes. However, I did have Norfolk Wherries and Humber Keels successfully drop off goods to a canal stop in one of my games and go to a canal waypoint in some experiments.

DoR,

I've had a look at your saved game. Part of the problem appears to be that you're using Norfolk Wherries, which are set to "MUST USE: Waterway". That means that they are river only vessels, and should not be used on the open ocean. The bug appears rather more that they are allowed onto the sea in the first place, rather than that they can't get back when they are there. I shall investigate further.

Hi James,

Just to be sure, you did notice that I'm using Pak128.Britain 1.07 instead of Pak128.Britain-Ex 0.6? Do the ships in the standard version even have the "MUST USE: Waterway" setting?

DoR,

ahh, I hadn't spotted that - there should be no constraints set when loading a Standard pakset. I shall have to investigate further. Thank you for clarifying that...

I think that this has been fixed at the same time as the ship teleportation bug.
