Title: p****ing track
Post by: Herocrafter on July 04, 2010, 10:54:23 pm
I was searching signals and at the the end of a few links I came across a thread (http://archive.forum.simutrans.com/topic/07248.0/index.html) with save game illustrating signals.  That save, by DirrrtyDirk, had a pair of p****ing tracks.  What I noticed was that the track didn't split into a "Y" formation when joined at 900 but was missing one "arm" of the "Y"; the accompanying pic has the "Y" the save doesn't.   Is there someway, some key combination, that produces the oneway "y"?

1) Your link is not working.

2) I don't get what you mean with "missing one arm of the Y"

Some picture or figure would be helpful.

It might be that you are seeing a feature of a later addition of Simutrans (that is later than when the pictures were made), where tracks on junctions that can't be used due to one-way signals won't be shown. I don't know if that is "missing one arm of the Y", but it might explain what you see.

Fixed the link.

================                vs               ===============
    ==                  ==                                             =                =
      ==========                                                 =======

not much in the way of graphic  :P

but for a, perhaps better explanation: if a train on the p****ing track reaches the Y connection it could go either left or right but the one in the save game was so that said train could only go in the direction it was heading.  I saw that was curious as to what mystic combination of keystrokes does one use to produce that, for I always get the full Y.  Hope this is clearer  ???

If you refer to a "Y" that takes up a single tile... that's a relatively recent-ish feature. It's visual only, based on the trains that actually travel over the tile; it doesn't actually prevent trains from traveling the other direction, just is prettier for you.

If not a single tile... someone else with better insight can answer. :)

Yeah most probably you stumbled across the new changing switch grafics, here's a wiki description on how to make them: http://simutrans-germany.com/wiki/wiki/tiki-index.php?page_ref_id=183&no_bl=y (http://simutrans-germany.com/wiki/wiki/tiki-index.php?page_ref_id=183&no_bl=y).

It's relatively new, so most paksets don't have it yet.

Yep thats it exactly.  I was in the brit pak and then used the 64 pak set for the archived save.  Anyway, first thanks.  Second I like it.  Alot.  Its amazing how that little disappearing act unclutters the screen.  Awesome work. :award:
