This is my first truck for Simutrans,
Jockey TABF (
the name is invented) I'm doing the first tests because someday I would like to start a roadtrain pak... ::).... I'll create 4 or 5 long trucks.
(http://lh4.ggpht.com/XdXavier/SP-qdyXJrSI/AAAAAAAAA0s/Ege_YEiekps/s400/jockey_pre.jpg)
EDIT: image updated
Wow! Really nice!
A clean work.
Tired of these puny bugs crawling on roads and getting in your way? Buy our Jockey Monster Truck and never care what was it that crunched under your wheels! ;D (the picture is a bit misleading with reference to 64)
Now seriously… It looks good, and any complaints I had diminished in the final size.
You're right. That img is in 128pak scale. I'll post some screenscaps later (I'm supposed to be working although the boss is not here right now... ::))
Its height is 9 pixels. I might do it smaller but It loses a lot of detail. In real life is a medium truck. I reserve 10-11 px for large trucks and road-trains.... ;D

Another big truck for transporting packet goods. Holland RWS

A small and fast concrete mixer: Austin 1300.

Am I alone with the feeling your trucks have strangely placed wheels?
EDIT: Sorry, in this series it's only the last.
Well, you're quite right. The point is that the first set of wheels corresponds to the cabin. The rest corresponds to the "trailer". Sometimes is due to the render, that do not represents the wheels correctly due to the scale. I've tried to fixed it with GIMP, but It's not easy.. :-\
Anyway, all wheel configurations are "real". I mean, I've used real photographs to create the models, they're not invented. I guess that If the truck is long, heavy and slow, config A is better to support the weight. If the truck is small, fast and light, you have to use config B to distribute the weight along trailer's structure . It's just a supposition...
Other thing is that in all those trucks, or at least all half cab ones (Jockey and Austin models), the cabin tends to be independent from the trailer. So you can have 3 sets of wheels ( 2+1 in Jockey TABF or 1+2 in Holland) or even four ( 1+3 in Jockey mixer)
First serious try-out of a road train: a preview of Kenworth K103 B from DHL
(http://lh6.ggpht.com/_dgV8cATuuJA/SRiXpjJDQaI/AAAAAAAAA8Y/W4Dqwq1hZpc/s400/keworthk104b.png)
Kenworth KC-104 B is almost finished. The bad news is that do not exist loading bays big enough to fill the whole convoy. It consist of three units (1 cab + 2 trailers) and you need a tile for each two units, so with the existing stops is not possible to fill it completly.. :(....but don't worry, I'll create something...... ;D
(http://lh5.ggpht.com/_dgV8cATuuJA/SRoV25f_BDI/AAAAAAAAA9A/QfbWSu0U8Js/s400/kenworthKC104B_prev.png)
P.S: I don't know if there's any constraint about having 2x1 loading bays, Any idea?
You can make a stop like a busstop.
What I had in mind is to create both versions. A large terminal loading bay which will go at the end of a road track and a large continous loading bay that has two exits/entries. I guess I will use the current loading bay graphics..
And when you make a second stop, who look like the loading bay (like bus stop)? You can build it before the one and you have a 2x1. But it is only a idea. ;)
A quick test of a possible design based on the single tile loading bay currently available.
(http://lh5.ggpht.com/_dgV8cATuuJA/SRqiJjm4QoI/AAAAAAAAA9s/xYC4DJ2eQRg/s400/large_loading_bays.jpg")
And can you pak it? I mean, can you show me the dat?
Yes I could, but not right now (I'm busy at work.. :)) I think you can adapt any 2x1 railway station dat, for example this one from MHz
Victorian station (
link to image (http://simutrans.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/simutrans/pak64/player/victorian_station_mhz.png?revision=19)):
Obj=building
Name=VictorianStation

I doubt that it will work that way. AFAIK there's a difference between a building that is placed next to a way (=extension) and one that is placed on a way (=stop).
Perhaps I used the wrong example. I didn't mean you code it is as an extension building, but I guess It's possible because large train stations exist.
I think a possible dat file for that could be..
Name=LargeCarStop
type=stop
waytype=road
enables_ware=1
NoInfo=1
Dims=2,1,4
intro_year=1910
level=2
....
....
...and you need to create a 2x1 stop from
the single tile stop png file (http://simutrans.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/simutrans/pak64/player/ls-loadbay.png?revision=19). What I don't remember is if terminal stops, which are placed at the end of a road track, need to be 1x1 size or can be larger. If there's any restriction in that sense, I guess it also may be coded as a busstop with
enables_ware=1, so that it can manage freights too.
Any stop with a way must be 1x1 currently. Simutrans cannot handle larger ones. However, with the layout=8 you can make loading bays that change grphics when extenden. I think vilvoh did this in the old archive once.
I had working stops in pak128 that used the end loading dock to make a bus stop-like extension as a separate stop right after it became possible to have more than 2 units (a truck plus 3 trailers, for example). I don't know what I did what that, but it looked just like the single access loading bay in the picture on the first page. Road trains never went mainstream, so neither did my loading dock. It's good to see they are making a surge here. :)
If I did it, I don't remeber right now.. :D...I think Frank mentioned something about that issue some thim ago. If I remember correctly, it was a topic about large train stations.
Anyway, you mean to use
Dims=2,1,8 instead of
Dims=2,1,4 following this scheme? I may need some help...could anybody give me a quick explanation about how to code it in the dat file, please?
(http://www.japanese.simutrans.com/index.php?plugin=ref&page=%B3%AB%C8%AF%2Fdat%A5%D5%A5%A1%A5%A4%A5%EB%B5%AD%BD%D2%A5%EA%A5%D5%A5%A1%A5%EC%A5%F3%A5%B9&src=fig10.png)
EDIT: It was a topic from Zeno about coal loading stations. It's in the archive (
link (http://archive.forum.simutrans.com/topic/07965.0/index.html))
No, as prissi wrote, you can only place 1x1 sized objects on any way.
So for a station, it must be dims=1,1,x (and x can be 2, 4, 8 or 16)
look here (http://www.simutrans-germany.com/wiki/wiki/tiki-index.php?page=de_BackImage&refresh=1#Der_Parameter_i_Dims_i_) for more info (in German only, I'm afraid - but the table shouldn't be that hard to translate via google or so).
Anyway, here's the most important words for the dims table:
Weg=way
Mittelteil=middle part
Endteil=end part
Einzelteil=single part
Nord=north
Süd=south
Ost=east
West=west (difficult one, I know ;D)
With those, the graphics shown there and a little experimenting, you'll probably get it working pretty soon.
Thanks for the info, DirrrtyDirk.
There's a thing I still don't understand. If I've read correctly, the use of 1,1,8 or 1,1,16 as Dims implies the station has only 2 rotations, doesn't it? I mention this becasue the original one is 1,1,4 that means four rotations, and as far as I've read, if you implement the large version following that scheme seems it will have only two rotations, am I right? therefore, it will be like a bus stop with exits-entrances by both sides, which was not what I had in mind... :-\
BTW, Is there any sample of this somewhere in the SVN? Perhaps the large dock?
So what you need can be apparently described as
dims=1,1,6
Does Tilecutter support this feature?
german wiki (http://www.simutrans-germany.com/wiki/wiki/tiki-index.php?page=en_BackImage#Dims_bei_Stationen) sorry, not translating
This is not possible. Only 1,1,2 ( 2 middlestops) 1,1,4 ( 4 endstops ) 1,1,8 ( 4 stops for 2 directions ) 1,1,16 ( 8 stops for 2 directions, 4 for left side and 4 for right side )
Vilvoh you can make 2 stops. A first one for the end ( 1,1,4 ) and a second as an extension ( 1,1,2 ). I don't know an other way.
Well, not now. But it could be added, maybe?
YOu can have it with layout=8, but then it would still allow to connect a road to the end tile.
well, It doesn't matter. It's clear...I will try it at the weekend.
Back to trucks and road trains, I've finished the Kenworth KC-104B and it's ready for downloading. You've to build mixed stops to use it, until I create the new loading bay (see screenshots). I couldn't resist so I've added some extra images of the road train overtaking other vehicles and it looks awesome!!
I love this game!!.... ;D
(http://lh5.ggpht.com/_dgV8cATuuJA/SR3Nn_84qLI/AAAAAAAAA_4/rRsreZCh66I/s400/kenworth_roadtrain.jpg)
An extended loading bay already exists, see:
http://archive.forum.simutrans.com/topic/01586.0/index.html
Thanks for the info Giziar, I knew somebody had done something. The author is Timothy....direct link to the 64pak loading bays (http://archive.forum.simutrans.com/topic/01740.0/index.html)
It uses a different approach, imho quite more simple. He coded a terminus loading bay that is placed at the end of the road, and another loading bay through that goes in front of the terminus one, like and extension building. You've two different buttons but this way you can build loading bays as large as you want. It's the most reasonable way to implement it, a must-have if you want to play with road trains.... :)
Another cement mixer for the 1950's. Mack B-42....
(http://lh3.ggpht.com/_dgV8cATuuJA/STlwnuBrB7I/AAAAAAAABHY/kgGaCt6Kycs/s400/mackb42mixer_prev.jpg)
I've done this GMC CrackerBox 238 from 1965.
(http://graphics.simutrans.com/albums/userpics/10026/CrackerBoxprev.png)
So it carries fireworks? ;D
No, I think it's a food transport, right? :-\ ;D
Well, I was thinking to use it for transporting furnitures but I'm open to any suggestion... ::)
The colour suggests metal; maybe cooling?
I can't find out for the photos I have. It seems a ship container but I'm not sure. Anyway, is possible to create a truck that can manage more than one type of freight, isn't it?
Or piece goods from the Goods Factory? :-\
I usually create this trucks to transport freights which don't have a lot of vehicles available. Sometimes you only have one as happens with steel, sand, cement, etc..at least in pak64. So I try to fill those gaps with these trucks.
Btw, I've found the history behind
Cracker Box's nick.
I've finished those two ones: GMC 238 CrackerBox and Mack MB A-P-A. Both are light trucks with medium capacity, arround 85 km/h, 18 tn and running cost of 7.10 cr/km.
P.S: sources at g.s.c (http://graphics.simutrans.com)
Good work, vilvoh. :) They really look quite nice.
Thanks. I'm glad you like them..they're quite balanced and the graphics are simple but effective. Btw, the next truck I'm going to create will be perhaps another road train or a steel/iron small truck.
EDIT: An advance of Berliet Stratadair 20 for transporting iron ore and steel.
(http://www.postimage.org/Pq2Q2MIS.jpg) (http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=Pq2Q2MIS)
Berliet Stradair 20 metal series finished. Two small trucks for transporting steel and iron ore (payload = 24) from 1965.
P.S: sources available at graphics.simutrans.com >> vilvoh gallery
The new ones I'm making: Mack MS250 Midliner and Kentworth KS50. Both probably for transporting furnitures or piece goods.
(http://www.postimage.org/gxDE7S.jpg) (http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=gxDE7S)
EDIT: trucks finished. sources available at graphics.simutrans.com
The last one from now will be this Kentworth K104 NZ for transporting logs and planks..
(http://www.postimage.org/aV6Sf5r.jpg) (http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=aV6Sf5r)
I've to fix some details like the logs texture to avoid the grainy effect and the metallic material for the trailer, but it's almost finished. I'll use a different color scheme for each version: black for logs and blue for planks.
Kentworth K105 NZ finished. With special night colors, and single or trailer versions.
I couldn't resist to make this huge truck called
Sharpwood 350 Titan. It's quite similar to another existing one on pak64, but that was imho quite small so I decided to make a slightly bigger version. After all, it's heavy mining truck, isn't it? Obviously It'll transport a large amount of bulk goods (coal, sand, stone and probably iron ore)
(http://www.postimage.org/aVB_lir.jpg) (http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=aVB_lir)
I've to do some scale tests to make it fit on scale, but it's almost finished.
I was talking with Zeno when I realized that its real name is
Terex Titan 33-13, and was the world biggest truck (now is Liebherr T282, which is also in my list.. ;D)
(http://www.postimage.org/PqESB8S.jpg) (http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=PqESB8S)
It's really huge:
- Capacity: 260 tn
- Weight: 340 tn
- Power: 2460 kW
- Speed: 67 km/h
- Cost: 34.380 cr
- Running cost: 59,61 cr
It can transport sand, stone, coal and iron ore (mainly, arids and bulk goods) and well, I think it fits on the scale (it's bigger than MHz's one, of course) Only recommended for moving large amounts of goods to short range distances....
enjoy!! :)
What a monster :) You could hijack some unused waytype and code it as a train, to simulate that it needs the whole road for itself.
Another heavy mining truck. This time is the world biggest truck: Liebherr T282.
(http://www.postimage.org/Pq16lsir.jpg) (http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=Pq16lsir)
- Capacity: 365 tn
- Weight: 203 tn
- Power: 2722 kW
- Speed: 65 km/h
- Cost: 48.380 cr
- Running cost: 80,61 cr
They really look cool and futuristic! 8)
Well, both are based on real life trucks. I mean, those trucks really exist, so I would say realistic better than futuristic.... ;)

(http://www.postimage.org/Pq1b39P0.jpg) (http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=Pq1b39P0)
The Studebaker is almost finished so I had time to make those two: Ford c and Kentworth from Willig Transport Company.
(http://www.postimage.org/aV1hTWkS.jpg) (http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=aV1hTWkS)
P.D: I forgot to add another one, from Willig too. It's White Compact 450XP ...
Studebaker and Willig transport Set finished. Enjoy!
Another small but powerfull one: PeterBilt 344 DT, probably for transporting logs and planks.
(http://www.postimage.org/aV1GltLr.jpg) (http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=aV1GltLr)
Ei Vilvoh, do you have any trucks planned that transport paper? :( It's sad to only have one choice for trucks for paper for a millennium or so. If you have done one from the earlier pages, please do tell. :P
Yes, sure..why not. In fact I was thinking on changing the Peterbilt from logs and planks to paper... :)
I'm open to suggestions but If I remember correctly, I've planned three single trucks and 3 long trucks (cab+trailer) for transporting paper.
EDIT: The list of paper trucks.
Single | Multiple |
International DR-700 | Kenworth KCD 825-C (1952) |
White Expediter P20 | Kenworth KCD 825-B (1954) |
Renault Goelette | International ACCO T2670 |
Freightliner TTN | Mercedes Benz GCF(1965) |
Yay! That's amazing to hear. It has been pretty much irritating to pursue a BookShop line due to the default Paper vehicle having low carrying capacity and the fact that you only have it as a choice for a Veeeeeeeeery long time. Indeed you can use trains, but it doesn't really pay much so you'll just gonna exhaust your funds.
I'm going to wait for these, thanks for confirming vilvoh. =D
The first truck for paper. It's a Kentworth KCD 825-C Auburn with trailer.
(http://www.postimage.org/aV1UhE10.jpg) (http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=aV1UhE10)
Peterbilt 344 DTx series (Logs and Planks) and Kenworth KCD 825-C (paper) finished.
There's a problem, for those like Moppi who want to create profitable paper lines. By the tests I've done, that good is extremly low profitable. The max income you can get with KCD 825-C is 600 cr. with a payload of 28 rolls (cab+trailer)!!.. so if the distance between paper factory and print is medium or long, I recommend not to use trucks, but large trains instead or you'll probably go bankrupt. Enjoy with the trucks! :)
W00t! Thanks Vilvoh, these are amazing. :D
I'm not really going for profits in regards with the paper, i just find the default truck not having a much bigger capacity daunting (add to that as i already mentioned, you only have it as a choice in terms of trucks for the entire duration of your save) specially when the Printing Works eat Paper Fast. Sometimes the distance between the Paper Factory and the Printing works isn't really that far so trucks are more space friendly for me.
Ok. The truth is that I usually do not play as much as I would like to, and although I always test the vehicles in game, I actually don't realize some of those details that usual players tend to notice.
Btw, I'm finishing another version of Kenworth, called KCD 825-B with a little bit more capacity (almost 30 rolls)
Another one: Mercedes Benz GCF (1965)
(http://www.postimage.org/Pq2qim2r.jpg) (http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=Pq2qim2r)
Kenworth KCD 825-B ready for downloading. It's quite similar to 825-C, but with different color, a little bit more capacity, speed, cost and running cost. We could say it's more advanced than 825-C.
Btw, the Mercedes is almost finished. I'll post the pak file tomorrow.
Here it is: Mercedes Benz GCF for transporting paper. It's almost the same as Hajo's Papiertransporter, but faster and with a little bit more capacity. Obviously this means it's more expensive... ;D
A single truck, Freightliner TTN: 14 rolls, 290 kw, 21 tn, 88 km/h, 1972-1984.
Another single truck: White Expediter P20. Slightly better than H-trans and pretty well balanced.
This time is Renault Goelette, a small truck slightly faster than H-trans and nine paper rolls of capacity, available from 1943 until 1958.
This will be the last single truck: International D-500. A payload of 10 paper rolls, 65 km/h, 165 kW, from 1938 to 1955.
Ooookay... i'm pretty much floored at the moment. I'm getting the most recent updates and engulf myself into the Bookshop Industry thanks to you Vilvoh.
Major Props to you Vilvoh. 1m times. ;D
I'm open to more suggestions. Vilvoh Truck Factory is always working on new models... ;D
This is the last paper truck from now: International ACCO T2670.
A set of three large vans for transporting furnitures (Guy Pantechnicon Van Series)
Three Sentinel Steam Trucks. Yes, you've read well, they are steam powered trucks with optional trailers that can transport cement, oil and piece goods, available from 1910.
where can i download these trucks ???
Mod note: You don't need 6 smileys to express a single line sentence.

Try here: http://addons.simutrans.com/?pak=64&cat=vehicles&todo=search
No i am sorry but they aren't here
for download -- try vilvoh's gallery (found the link a few pages back)
http://graphics.simutrans.com/index.php?cat=10026
You will also need "makeobj" (on Ubuntu, I just did "sudo apt-get install simutrans-makeobj") and then after downloading the matching .png and .dat files, call makeobj as:
makeobj PAK output-filename.pak input-datfile-you-downloaded.dat
note it may have to be PAK in all caps... with some of vilvoh's older pakfiles like the Truck Docks, I had to change "type=carstop" to "type=stop" and a new line "waytype=road"
Then put the .pak files in your pak/ directory.
p.s., is addons.simutrans.com even updated since about two years ago?
Can you give me the link for makeobj ;)
You can find it on the download page:
http://www.simutrans.com/download.htm
I am sorry but this proram doesn't work
Any details on what goes wrong?
i don`t know whats wrong but i can`t open it --> there isn`t even a error message
Ah ok. That might because you just click on it, but it's for command line...
what do you mean???
Uhm... ever used this?
(http://www.patheticcockroach.com/mpam4/p_img/8_1.png)
If not and you don't want to learn... there is one easy method. Put in one folder the program (makeobj.exe) and your thingies. Create shortcut to program. Edit it, and where it says blahblahblah\makeobj.exe, append at the end of text one space and then this:
pak ./ ./
This is for size 64. If the objects are for different pak size, like 128, you append the number directly after pak, like this:
pak128 ./ ./
ah ok thanks
A set of Guy J Tipper trucks for transporting bulk goods (sand, stone and coal)
Thats all? Please have more! :P
You can always learn to make more yourself. This is an all volunteer community. I"m not sure you really understand that.
I've planned to develop a fuel truck set, so be patient... :)
:D Thanks! I'm a big fan of you! :D
This is the begining of a large trucks set, about 40 road vehicles for transporting fuel, from 1900 to 2010. The first two are Peterbilt Rebel OD and Karmaz Azer 6x4T, from the 1970's.

You know, if you'd skip to the end, they'd be done faster. Er... isn't that right? Seems logical to me!
Joking aside, that looks pretty sweet. :)

I'm still finishing the balancing of the second part, but before that I've painted several new trucks: Western Star White, Freightliner Husky OL and Western Star CLF.

After a long time doing other things, finally the second part is ready for downloading. The third part is already rendered and I hope it will be ready next week or so.

These ??? I have many trucks and I can not identify! ;D
EDIT: Beautiful trucks!
That's my fault... ;D
Yes, the second part includes the ones from the images you've included.
Hi Vilvoh, great job making those trucks. I'm making my first busses too but I run into a problem. When i compile my .dat and . pgn file with pack helper, it does the pack correctly but then when I run simutrans I can't find my vechicle. ps I got all eras enabled, dat file made from simutrans source to avoid mistakes, and my png was made from template, i used shades and thats all. In what part I screwed?
a) Where did you put the pak files?
b) By any chance, are the paks just about 70 bytes?
Uhm, at first sight I don't see the problem. What's the size of the pak file? Could you please post the dat file content?
P.S: VS was faster than me... :P
Yes they are here, dont mind the graphics, this is uncompleted and in very early stage :]
the gear value must be a integer number not a float (
125 instead of 1.25). Moreover the reference to the image must have the same name as the image without the file extension name. Your png image is
funkobus.png but the reference from the dat file is
wg. Rename the png image as
wg.png or change the dat reference to the image as
funkobus. With all these changes, it should work, see the screenshot...

Third part of the set. They're all simple truck tankers. This part consists of Albion Caledonian, Peterbilt Esso 36, Peterbilt Chevron, Saveim JM240v, Western Star White and Freightliner Husky OL.
