I'm playing with Pack 128 and I've noticed a few things. First, 1919 and earlier, there are no "city roads" only "dirt roads" in cities. I've also noticed that before 1946 there is a limited supply of vehicles. I made this list for/by myself. The following is a list of when the vehicles first become available(IE the first train able to transport cars appears in 1925, and the first truck able to do it in 1928. Hence those are the dates below.)
Thing | Truck | Rail |
Farm P | 1904 | 1890 |
Wood | 1921 | 1870 |
Fluid | 1923 | 1910 |
Cooled | 1924 | 1908 |
Oil | 1923 | 1921 |
Bulk | 1904 | 1850 |
Piece | 1921 | 1885 |
Steel | 1927 | 1880 |
Concrete | 1946 | 1929 |
Cement | 1921 | 1908 |
Cars | 1928 | 1925 |
I've also noticed the first tram appears in 1903, the first p****enger train in 1892, the first electric p****enger train in 1926, first electric locomotive in 1921, the first bus in 1920, and first mail truck in 1923.
Anyways, my point. I've done all this work, and there is still so much more. Therefore, I'm wondering, does anyone else have a list like this or know where I can find it, especially when it comes to the date certain roads or track types become available.
In Pack 64 I've determined the following:
Horses and Oxen appear in the year 1. However trailers they can carry show up in 1419.
Horse drawn trams appear in 1865. Electric ones in 1913. P****enger trains in 1837, and electric locomotives in 1900 (diesel ones in 1835) The first bus appears in 1915. City roads in 1937
Again, if there is such a list somewhere else, please point me in the right direction. If not, I will start a new thread in the proper place, and I will continue to build a list.

I think there was something like a timeline diagram in the old forum (see archive.forum.simutrans.com) but I'm not sure. Anyway, I think your list is a great idea, but if you could create a timeline diagram, that would be superb. I'm sure we would be appreciate it very much if you're able to get something like this

Just a quick note: it's pak, not pack. ;)
Nobody has a list like this. You are the first :)

Ah. I shall continue to build the list then :)
Well the closest thing to a chronology of Simutrans is the vehicle lists That I had included in the Appendix of the Reference Manual.
The only problems with it is that it's utterly incomplete and I haven't worked on it for 18-24 months.
What I have is a partial chronology of the trains of pak64 and pak128 1.4.2. and their statistics.
