Need help in selecting the right version for me

I used to play Simutrans a lot, the old version. It took my mind of the things that were happening, with me and around me.
Now that I am able to use my pc again after a long period, I tried to take up my favourite p****time again of course. Allthough I admired the development and progress (as an ex-developer & troubleshooter om bigger businesss machines I can appreciate the efforts put into it), my eyes and brain ( concentration etc) won't agree. It's to small, to crowded and to much for me. I would like to download the old version and see if I can play it on my new pc (vista home and not to much memory, can't afford a better one). I am a bit confused what version to download and where. Please, can someone help me?

Well you could for instance start with pak96.comic graphics which are much cleaner and more eye friendly. Because the old version had exactly the same amount of pedestrians and city cars, I am not sure that would help. But how old is old enough?

Another way is to remove all files name citycar.*.pak and pedestrian.*.pak and you would have much fewer moving objects. If you play full screen with a lower resolution (800x600) then things will be much larger on the screen. For this you can make a link to simutrans and give -res 2 -fullscreen as additional paramters.

You could try Pak192.Comic, which is a larger scale set that has relatively uncomplicated graphics. It is in development, though, so may be incomplete in some respects, although it is advancing all the time.
Download Simutrans-Extended.
