Coal transporting.

Hello All.
My question is about economy.
In tutorial Its' said that i'de better to begin with coal transporting, cause it gives biggest revenue.

So I began my tries.
I always started in 1930. Searched first power plant, then coal mine. Connected them with train. And this train was giving some money. But not enough to cover cost of railroads and two stations.

I've tried everything: fast (expensive) trains, slow (cheap) trains, tried to load them full. I've even tried a beginners mode. But the best I've earned was small income (about 1000$ ) in every odd year. And minus 1000 every even.

So question:
Are trains, transporting coal still good choice for beginners? (I think It's possible for game mechanics to change.)
If It is, what is the best configuration of tracks, trains, stations etc. to really earn money? I mean In the most begin (fresh map and 1930 in the window).

um,,, use track with cheapest maintenance.
Use locomotive with low speed and low running cost.(compared to others)
Avoid too much detour.

Its not that coal gives you huge profit, but they are fairly simple to start with and
gives as any profitable industry chain, gives you constant income to help you build
your p****enger/mail network.

Keep trying and have fun.

Coal is not good for pak64. Bringing oil to a refinery and then gasoline to a filling station will give most revenue.

All tryies I did in pack128. When I switched to 64, The first line I've build was successfull. As you said: Profit was not so huge, but stable.

I thought the main and only difference between paks was in graphics.

No, all paks have their own character. Each pak has for instance their own industry chains, their own goods, their own prices and costs and even their own menu- and toolbar-structure. And so they are really different in playing style.
