Industry density problem

Hello.
I used to play Simutrans some year or two ago, and recently I've had an idea to try it again.
I downloaded Simutrans complete 64, obviously the first thing I saw.
Whed I was playing simutrains before, I remember there were industry buildings in quite same density all over the map.
But now, for some unknown reason, I've got almost whole idustry in one or two particular places on the map, leaving rest of the map amost completely blank with some factory here and there.
I've tried of course to increase amount of industry chains, but it doesn't seems to help at all.
And when I try to play at last, I'm often stucked with like 6 forrests for 1 saw mill.

I'm probably doing something wrong, but I haven't got the slightest idea what's the issue. So I'll be grateful for any help

Welcome to the forum!

Industry buildings have never been evenly spread on the map. Industry chains are usually created near cities (that is: the end-consuming factory is in a city, and production factories are within a certain distance from a corresponding consuming factory). The only exceptions are powerstations, which are randomly placed.

So on a large map with few cities, you will see a concentration near cities. On a small map with a lot of evenly spread cities, you will find evenly spread industry buildings.

6 forests to a sawmill can be ok, certainly if there are more sawmills provided by the same forests. Something really did change here, as a cross connection factor was introduced not such a long time ago.

If you create a new game, you can change some initial settings (see settings button) that influence behaviour concerning industry. These are:

# how big is the chance for crossconnections in percent
crossconnect_factories_percentage = 33

# how much is the total electric power available (in relation to total production) in parts per thousand
electric_promille = 330

# at which number of inhabitants we need a new market?
industry_increase_every = 2000
