Re: Russian city names Reply #4 – August 22, 2010, 03:07:59 am Well, I meant not "List with existing names" but "When I start to write new city name ingame, it appears in wrong encoding". Is it the same trouble about ampersand in cityrules_ru.txt? Quote Selected
Re: Russian city names Reply #5 – August 22, 2010, 07:38:32 pm Just use the russian citylist as a template and leave the beginning as it is. Quote Selected
Re: Russian city names Reply #6 – August 25, 2010, 02:38:25 am I'm afraid I still didnt got it. I'm playing pak128 with russian translation, so I did put citylist_ru with russian names in /pak128/text but still not able to see russian letters in correct encoding. I did put ampersand in front of first city name in citylist_ru.txt and it didnt help again. Quote Selected

Re: Russian city names Reply #8 – August 25, 2010, 05:58:43 pm Sure, look in attachment. I did attach file without ampersand, original one. Quote Selected
Re: Russian city names Reply #9 – August 25, 2010, 08:19:20 pm You citylist contained three garbage bytes (EF BB BF) at the beginning (ok, the byte order mark, which is useless for UTF ... ) instead of the required A7 C2 sequence "§" in Latin1 letters. Not sure which editor you used, but maybe you need to use a hex editor to make this the first letters Quote Selected Last Edit: August 25, 2010, 08:24:15 pm by prissi
Re: Russian city names Reply #10 – August 26, 2010, 12:27:22 am Could you just upload fixed/correct one? I dont use names from citylist, always giving my own ones. But if citylist is incorrect it wont let me do so. Have no idea what is HEX editor. Quote Selected
Re: Russian city names Reply #11 – August 26, 2010, 09:50:07 am Well, I will teach simutrans also to use byte order mark to check for UTF-8. Be patient. Quote Selected
Re: Russian city names Reply #12 – August 26, 2010, 11:48:28 pm I worked HEX editor out, took english citylist, edited first city name in notepad to cyrillic one, opened edited file in hex editor and added A7 C2 in front of town name. Got something like §cityname in russian: §Москва. But still having same strange symbols ingame. Probably there is issue with fonts or translation.I am patient, just thought you know how to fix this trouble and would help. Sorry if I bother you. Quote Selected
Re: Russian city names Reply #13 – August 27, 2010, 08:35:25 pm Whenever you open a file in notepad, it will add the byte order mark. Quote Selected
Re: Russian city names Reply #14 – August 28, 2010, 11:18:16 pm Then I have no idea where to edit this file to save it as working citylist in UTF-8. Quote Selected
Re: Russian city names Reply #15 – August 29, 2010, 12:46:33 am Use something different that notepad maybe? For example Notepad++ or something similar. It just needs to be better than normal Windows' notepad (and nearly everything out there is better). Quote Selected
