Two tile cargo bay? July 10, 2010, 12:44:50 am I'm playing pak 128brit but this might be a universal question. It might not too but I'm putting it here in the help requests anyway When I ****emble a truck convoy in my garage (the year is 1880) the truck needs 1 station tile and the first livestock trailer doesn't add to the number of tiles but the second trailer increases the station tiles required to 2, then adding the last (3rd) trailer allowed (which, btw, keeps my speed at 20(20)) the station tiles required remains at 2. Out of the garage now, when a 3 trailer truck convoy enters a 1 tile cargo bay only the first 2 trucks load (naturally, a two trailer convoy will load both also). So my three questions are: First why does the two trailer convoy (truck + 2 trailers) load both trailers in a single tile cargo bay if the garage shows that I need 2 tiles? Second why doesn't the third truck load if the 2nd will (the 2nd and 3rd trucks are both shown as needing 2 tiles in the garage)? Lastly how the heck do you build even a 2 station cargo bay if the bay requires a end piece of road? I'll attempt my own answers: first and second, the garage info is wrong and third its not possible. If thats correct I'm ok but if there is some way to build a 2 tile cargo bay tell me how please? Re: Two tile cargo bay? Reply #1 – July 10, 2010, 02:02:27 am to build a 2 tile cargo bay, simply add a bus stop or mail stop like you would with railway stations.Simutrans doesn't care if the second station tile is not cargo specific. Quote Selected
Re: Two tile cargo bay? Reply #2 – July 10, 2010, 02:50:42 am At least one "through"-truckstop has been painted, although I don't remember where or for which pak size...But AEO says, building a second station tile of any kind will work just fine. In fact, if your pak allows it - you could build a two-tile bus stop, as long as you had an attached station building that enabled goods. The goods-p****engers-mail enabling happens on a per-station level, not a per-tile level. Quote Selected
Re: Two tile cargo bay? Reply #3 – July 10, 2010, 09:37:23 am I think this might be a pak128british issue for I wasn't even able to create truck convoy greater than 1 trailer in pak64 (I just checked). I thought of expanding the stations by adding p****inger bus stop and additional attached cargo bays before posting but had no luck. I tried again after your posts placing many cargo bays and p****engers stops , again same result: 3rd trailer wouldn't load. Nor would it explain allowing a 2 trailer convoy that loads in a 1 tile station. <shrug> no big deal I'll just make 2 trailer convoys and be done with it. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. As always thanks for posting to help me. Quote Selected

I didn't check, but it would seem as if that's the case. If you just hang on a second, I'll go make some screenshots on how to make a 2-tile cargo bay. Quote Selected
Re: Two tile cargo bay? Reply #5 – July 10, 2010, 09:48:29 am @Caspercom yes there weren't any trucks that would haul that many trailers in pak64. As for the screenshot on how to make a 2-tile cargo bay are you talking about designing a 2 tile cargo bay or just ploping down an adjecent cargo bay? I'm not much into designing addons but love the stuff you guys made. Quote Selected
Re: Two tile cargo bay? Reply #6 – July 10, 2010, 10:14:04 am The issue of pak simply depends on what addons exist. Raven had, for example, make a large number of trucks for pak128 that allowed for larger convois.Unless the master limit has been lifted, it should be noted that four is the limit of parts (i.e. one truck + three trailers - or if trucks worked like trams, up to four truck-trailer bits -- there have been busses that accidentally could connect like trams, so up to four busses would work) Quote Selected
Re: Two tile cargo bay? Reply #7 – July 10, 2010, 10:16:40 am Don't worry, you don't need to create your own add-ons I'm done with the screenshots, here goes (my dearest excuse for the handwriting, I used my tablet ):I used pak128 with a road train add-on to create the screenshots. If you create a goods vehicle that needs more than 1 tile to load, you can't use the cargo bay anymore. If you use it, the part that ends up outside the bay won't be loaded. Therefore, you need to create a cargo stop that has multiple tiles. Two examples:1. At the end of a road, with a cargo bay and a p****enger stop directly connected to it. The p****enger stop will in this case be used as a loading platform and not as a storage for goods:2. You can also create a 2-tile p****enger stop. When you do this, you need to create a storage building (in this case, a ware house) to make sure goods can be stored in the stop.Oh, and don't forget to make sure the arrival stop is two tiles in length a well, otherwise the goods can't be delivered. Re: Two tile cargo bay? Reply #8 – July 10, 2010, 10:42:27 am @ Caspercom your picture did help. I had the stops side by side thinking that simutrans wouldn't care so long as there were 2 tiles but placing those stops in-line did the trick and the 3 trailers load just fine. Still don't know why the garage shows that 2 trailers require a 2 tile stop when 1 tile works just fine. But thats for another day. I'm back to gaming on my day off. Thanks again everyone. :award:@Isaac.Eiland-Hall yes the limit is, as you say, 4. The trucks I'm using must be Raven's. Quite handy in reducing the road traffic having larger convoys.
