256 - 256 is my map size, and don't worry KingTy, I've been playing simutrans for 2 weeks now and I'm getting the hang of it though I found it really hard in the beginning.

1) What don't you like about it -- that is, what makes it hard?

2) If you don't mind posting your map settings here, we could come up with specific suggestions. :)

k i dont like how its hard to make money cuz there's not many industries some times and other times it seems like the map is too crowded.
My settings are:
Map Size: 192-192
Cities: 2
Citizens: 1600
Road: 6000 This is high cuz i want the cities to b connected to make it easier to transport people
Traffic: 10
Industri: 10
Electicity: 33
Tourist: 10
i know that my settings are the reason why i find it hard to play but i dont know that to put then as so i like to play and i can sit done and play the map with out getting mad

Well, let's see... Do you realize that the "Industry" setting counts *chains* rather than individual factories? Also, there is a minimum distance between factories - I'm not quite sure 10 whole chains would fit on that map -- the number of cities might be a limiting factor.

Maybe try upping the cities to four -- that's still not a whole bunch, but it would give the industries a chance to spread out a bit, I think. I think that's why sometimes you don't get many factories on the map...

It sounds like you like to mostly transport goods? (i.e. connect factories)? If that's not the case - might want to take that number down.

Personally, I usually use something like a 4:1 or more ratio of cities to factories -- so if I had 16 cities, I'd have 4 factory chains. That doesn't account for power, though -- for instance, I might actually set 8 factory chains, BUT set percent electricity to 50%.

I don't know if you've realized that, too -- "percent electricity" applies to the industry chains. If you have it set to 10 chains, and "percent electricity" to 30, then it should give you about 3 electric plant chains, and 7 other industry chains...

Also, it would be a bit more work, but it might be worth it to you in the long run -- if you switch to public service, you can find in special menu a 'factory builder' -- it takes a little practice, but you can choose the factory, plop it where you want, and then use the connector tool to connect them (they have to actually work together, though) -- the connector works by clicking the first factory, then the second.

Does that help any? Feel free to come back with further questions, and I (and hopefully others) will surely try to help. :-) Ultimately, it is a bit random, so you might also find that you have to generate a new map a few times to get something you want... I think I spend more time doing that than actually playing, myself. :)

k thanks im getting maps that dont look that hard to play now. umm yes this is off topic a little but its about the AI. Will the AI build new industry chains?

In the future, please create a new topic for new questions -- it makes it easier to search the forum and find useful answers (which I ****ume you tried before asking ;-) )

In a nutshell: yes. Cities that reach certain sizes will create new industry chains.

(Although "AI" usually refers to competitive players, so in normal parlance, it's not the "AI" doing it)
