Tram/Metro Bridges January 19, 2009, 12:29:27 pm I've been trying to rid my negative cash flow. I foud out (I know, a little late) that trams are much cheaper than trains, this also counts for the tracks. Unfortunately I can't replace my train tracks (for metro traffic) with tram tracks, since trams don't have bridges, only car bridges.Would it be possible to have a bridge that doesn't show roads, has a speedlimit of 0kmh or any other trick to block any road traffic, but allows tram tracks to be built on them, and can be added in the tram tools? That would make building metro tracks much easier! Please see the attached picture of what I am trying to replace and what I mean with metro tracks. Thanks! Quote Selected

Re: Tram/Metro Bridges Reply #2 – January 19, 2009, 02:29:53 pm Also you could use a normal rail bridge (should work with tram, too) Quote Selected
Re: Tram/Metro Bridges Reply #3 – January 19, 2009, 04:13:47 pm Thanks both for your replies. The reason why I never used rail bridges is because they don't seem to match nice with the tram tracks, there seems to be an offset. A normal road bridge would do, I was looking for some pngs and dats from road bridges to modify one and make them into paks for trams. The reason why I wouldn't use an already existing road bridge is the layout of the surface of the bridge, it shows a road, which I have never seen on metro tracks Are there any links to pngs and dats of road bridges available? Re: Tram/Metro Bridges Reply #4 – January 19, 2009, 09:09:23 pm You can Just build a road bridge, lay tram tracks on it and let your trains go along it ...EDIT: In the reality there are not any tram bridges. Ehm. there was one, in Prague, but it was razed after of just great simutrans fans mob riots ... [attachment deleted by admin] Quote Selected Last Edit: January 19, 2009, 09:12:41 pm by Lodovico

Britannia Bridge, Portmadog. Just been reinstated for the Welsh Highland Railway which is scheduled to reopen this summer. Bridge on LHS of aerial image, Portmadog Harbour Station in foregroundMore impressive, perhaps, and being standard gauge / full sized trains, is the Connel Ferry Bridge in Scotland (the other Cantilever bridge north of the boarder). Was combined road-rail until the railway closed in the 1960s. Now just single track road. Quote Selected
Re: Tram/Metro Bridges Reply #6 – January 19, 2009, 09:51:42 pm In Berlin: Gleisverschlingung (those are actually two rails for both direction which are seperated only 5cm without a switch:http://jingalex.files.wordpress.com/2007/10/bose02.jpgFor Streetcars, using shared bridges is rahter common, I saw this in Praha and Wien too. Re: Tram/Metro Bridges Reply #9 – January 20, 2009, 08:56:19 pm Great pics!!! Very inspiring, and proving there are possibilities for a tram/metro bridge.I have made an example of a tram bridge. There are no dat files nor png files to create a pak, I just took a print screen from Simutrans and edited it in a photo editor. Would someone be so nice to provide me with the right pngs and dats if possible, or otherwise provide me a pak with a bridge like this? Thanks in advance. Quote Selected
