Oil Rig March 21, 2009, 02:45:32 am Hi everybody! Im really new to Simutrans(amazing game) and I've been trying to recover oil from an oil rig but the boat just isnt able to...I've tried a lot of different boats but none of them will gather any oil and i've used all the tutorials but it still isnt working....I am using PakSet64 on Normal Windows Please help if you can =) Quote Selected
Re: Oil Rig Reply #1 – March 21, 2009, 03:17:29 am -are you playing on time line on? if so which year are you playing?-Ship needs a oil property-Is your oil's final destination the refinery or other factory listed in you original rig window? If you set up the route to the final destination, oil should be loaded to the ship.and welcome to simutrans. Stay tuned because this game is constantly evolving! Quote Selected
Re: Oil Rig Reply #2 – March 21, 2009, 03:27:54 am Thank you =). I dont think I am playing with timeline on because the time is constantly going forward The ship isn't going directly to the factory...its going to the oil rig and then to the port where i want it to be picked up by a train...i can easily get the train to work but the ships the only problem Quote Selected
Re: Oil Rig Reply #3 – March 21, 2009, 03:48:32 am -Seems like you can set schedules for vehicles.-Where is your ship? Its not leaving the depot? Or It's waiting just beside the rig? If not, make it visit the tile just beside the ocean oil rig.-Again, make sure your ship can carry oil. You can check this on ship depot, down right corner of window if you hover mouse pointer on ships available.-Read the reference again.Stay vigilant and keep trying. Once you get it, its easy! Re: Oil Rig Reply #4 – March 21, 2009, 03:51:09 am Its actually just standing right on the rig-it can leave the depot-an oil rig has oil/petrol ill see if i was wrong with the good type Quote Selected
Re: Oil Rig Reply #5 – March 21, 2009, 04:06:03 am Well I didn't find out what the problem was but I think that certain rig isn't working right because i tried it with another rig going directly to a chemical plant and its working fine but the other one goes goes to the dock first Quote Selected
Re: Oil Rig Reply #6 – March 21, 2009, 04:30:36 am If Timeline is enabled it affects the availability of vehicles and wagons which affects how you can transport certain goods (e.g. Monorails are not available in 1930, The Boeing 707 isn't available in 1956) Not that time moves forward What sort of factory have you got connected after the Dock? What sort of Factory does the Train Deliver the Oil To?-- Chemical Factory-- Plastics Factory-- Oil Fired Power StationUnless it's an Oil Fired Power Station (which will consume the oil that is delivered to it) The Factorys are going to be making some sort of secondary product (e.g. Chemicals or Plastics) and these Secondary Products are going to need to be delivered elsewhere up the production chain (eventually to a final consumer)Once you do this your Factory's limited storeroom can be emptied so they can produce more of their products and consume their stored oil so you can deliver more from the Oil Rig.If you haven't already discovered the Simutrans Starter Guide visit http://docs.simutrans.comOrmac Quote Selected
Re: Oil Rig Reply #7 – March 21, 2009, 04:37:53 am The Chemical Plant isn't really connected to the dock i have a train thats taking the oil from the dock to the factory but for some reason the boat just wont load oil if it goes to a onshore dock, it loads perfectly fine if it loads the oil into a wharf Quote Selected
Re: Oil Rig Reply #8 – March 21, 2009, 04:46:09 am So are you trying to move the Oil from the Dock once it's arrived from the Oil Rig to a second Dock or to a Coastal Oil Power Station or Factory that is accessable via a river??Ormac Quote Selected
Re: Oil Rig Reply #9 – March 21, 2009, 04:49:35 am well this is the path of the boat. It begins at the oil rig ----> then its moves to the FreightShipDock(PakSet64)-----> then I have a train move the oil to a Chemical Plant the problem is that when the boat gets to the oil rig, it won't collect any oil but a different boat at a different rig works fine Quote Selected

Otherwise try a tug with an oil barge.Ormac Quote Selected Last Edit: March 21, 2009, 04:58:55 am by Ormac
Re: Oil Rig Reply #11 – March 21, 2009, 05:02:12 am yep their the same type of boat with the same capacity Quote Selected
Re: Oil Rig Reply #12 – March 21, 2009, 05:04:23 am When you click on the Chemical Plant, is that specific oil rig listed as a supplier? Quote Selected
Re: Oil Rig Reply #13 – March 21, 2009, 08:09:18 am One problem i've had is that the dock station and truck station (or other type of station) must be close enought to make only one station (one station name) otherwise oil can't quit the dock. Quote Selected

Re: Oil Rig Reply #15 – March 21, 2009, 03:06:28 pm Thanks I think that's what I was doing wrong.I hadn't set any train to the supply dock I did create a station right next to the dock and they didn't have seperate names so I think they were one station.I will go try it again but with a train coming in this Time Quote Selected

Also, all the stops (that are used here) have to enable freight. Quote Selected
Re: Oil Rig Reply #17 – March 22, 2009, 07:59:05 pm Thank you everybody!I finally got it to work all I needed was a train coming to pick up the goods LOL this game is addicting working on transporting p****engers now Quote Selected
