On the immutability of city roads February 20, 2010, 04:22:00 pm With some previous update, not too long ago, it was no longer possible to override city roads with roads of choice. This had no practical impact unless weight limits enabled in exp; but nevertheless I feel this was a very disappointing change. I do not believe this has to do with any settings as far as I have been able to tell, trying a new install and so on-- since I can no longer do things like this:I would like to know if there was any reason for this change, and I would like to see it undone. I've tried to look around, but I haven't found anything. Quote Selected
Re: On the immutability of city roads Reply #3 – February 20, 2010, 07:27:17 pm No, there should be nothing that influences this. Only the owner of the road is checked. Quote Selected

Re: On the immutability of city roads Reply #5 – February 20, 2010, 08:57:50 pm You can override (with control); but the city enforces speed limit within city limits. If you switch off growth, it will not change your roads, since it one converts them to city roads, when it renovates and adjacent building. Quote Selected
Re: On the immutability of city roads Reply #6 – February 20, 2010, 09:16:12 pm With control, you mean the key? I'm not able to override them. Both in exp and standard 102.2.1., last it worked I think was 101. Quote Selected

Re: On the immutability of city roads Reply #10 – February 20, 2010, 11:48:39 pm Further testing suggests that the problem is my simutrans experimental config. I must have forgotten to use a standard config in the pak folder last I tried a clean install and that was why it persisted. That probably means this belongs in the help or experimental sections, sorry about that--There is something, then, in the simutrans experimental config settings, that affects the ability to override the road surfaces. I still cannot discover any relevant setting? (This is a problem regardless of what executable is used). Quote Selected
